Establishing yourself in a new area means considering issues such as healthcare. Excellent healthcare facilities are scattered throughout the region with Prince William Health System operating Prince William Hospital in Manassas, and INOVA Health Systems operating hospitals in Fairfax, Fair Oaks, Alexandria and in neighboring counties. There are also teaching and research facilities in DC, Baltimore and Charlottesville, and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) operates clinics and facilities in this area as well. If you or any member of your family needs specialized care you will find those resources close by.
If you need childcare services there are resources through local government, other local organizations, and national online resources that will connect you with local childcare providers. There are nanny services, as well as in-home care and daycare centers throughout the area. There are also local organizations for working moms, stay-at-home moms, stay-at-home dads and parents in general.
For services geared toward senior citizens or the disabled, the county governments offer special programs and services including local transportation. There are also private organizations providing in-home services, care-givers, and specialized geriatric care.
If there are unique or specialized services you need and can't find a resource for, please let us know and I'll do my best to assist you finding them in MD, VA or in West Virginia.
